Beck Heinrich

Heinrich was at home with his wife and their two children at about 19:30 when two armed men entered the house after cutting the wire fencing around the garden. One of the men held a firearm to the couple’s 14-year-old son. Heinrich intervened, throwing the glass he was holding at the attacker and threatening him after the gunman threatened his son. The attacker then shot Heinrich in the chest. The two men left without stealing anything and apparently made no demands. Heinrich was critically wounded and paramedics worked for approximately 45 minutes to stabilise him. He died while being transported by ambulance to Eugène Marais Hospital in Pretoria.
