Maritz Manie Solomon

Solomon Gerhardus "Manie" Maritz was murdered on July 15, 2007. He was a senior manager at the BMW South Africa head office. The incident took place at his home on a smallholding in Constantia Park, Pretoria East, which led to his inclusion in the national registers of smallholding and farm attacks.He was shot in the chest after being ambushed by armed attackers outside his home in the evening. His 15-year-old daughter witnessed the incident, and a neighbor who heard his cries for help investigated and shot one of the fleeing suspects in the hip.The police arrested two Mozambican nationals, Patrick Sithole and Frans Mthabezitha, less than a kilometer from the scene, with Sithole still hiding in the bushes with the gunshot wound. In October 2008, both men were convicted of murder and sentenced in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court.
