Terblanche Koos
13 October 2003 · Trentham farm, Bethlehem · Free State · Other
Age 52. The incident unfolded during the day when two unknown men arrived at the farm property and approached Koos Terblanche, demanding money from him. When he refused to comply with their financial demands, the confrontation turned violent. The intruders overpowered the farmer, tying him up to prevent any defense or escape. They then placed him into the bathtub inside his home.
In a gruesome execution, the attackers used a sharp object to slash and slit Koos Terblanche's throat, leaving him in a pool of blood in the bath where he bled to death. The tragic scene was discovered later that Monday afternoon by his domestic worker, who found his body inside the bathtub and immediately alerted authorities.
The South African Police Service launched a rapid investigation into the murder. The swift response by law enforcement proved effective, as police successfully tracked down and arrested two suspects in connection with the crime by the very next day, Tuesday, October 14, 2003
