Adams Leentjie "Aunty Sus"

Leentjie Adams was walking home after visiting friends and family on a neighboring farm over the weekend. When she failed to arrive back at her residence on Saturday, September 2, 2023, she was reported missing to the Piketberg SAPS. A local search operation was launched, and on Tuesday morning, September 5, 2023, at approximately 10:30 AM, her body was found hidden between bushes along a footpath connecting two local agricultural properties. Her remains had been deliberately covered with partial zinc roofing sheets and building materials. Law enforcement officials initially investigated the incident without an immediate suspect, but community outrage and subsequent tracking led to an arrest. A local man identified as Michael Joubert was arrested and formally charged with her murder. According to community statements and legal tracking petitions, the accused had initially approached her under the guise of an act of kindness, offering to carry her groceries home before allegedly attacking and killing her. Michael Joubert appeared in the Piketberg Magistrate's Court, where community activists and family members actively petitioned the court to deny him bail.
