Petersen Cecil

Pattie was shot in the abdomen and died at the scene. Cecil was shot in the face and survived initially, but died about six weeks later in a Pretoria hospital from his injuries. The attack involved five men, and police subsequently arrested five suspects in Hammanskraal. There was a substantial subsequent court case. By September 2018, five accused were linked to the attack. One of them, Thato Surprise Maringa, was already serving a 12-year sentence for a previous robbery conviction. The case was ultimately heard in the Lephalale High Court.
