Coetzee Susanna

2 August 1992 · Farm Sudwalaskraal, Nelspruit · Mpumalanga · Tortured
Her son, Corrie Coetzee remembers: A farm worker entered the farmhouse while my mother was outside. She heard a noise and went to the main bedroom where the noise came from. When the intruder saw her, he shot her aiming at her face but missed. His second shot was through her right upper leg. The gun jammed and then he used it by hitting her breaking the wooden stock of the rifle on her cheek bone. He then used the electric cord of a fan to strangle her. When that did not work, he hit her with the barrel of the .22 rifle. When my father got to her, she told him exactly what happened and who it was. She was flown to the Jacaranda Hospital in Pretoria but died on 2 August 1992 after being in a coma. The culprit stole her car and received a 16-year sentence and released after 7 years in prison.
