He lived alone on the property. It appeared that he was ambushed and shot outside his vehicle at the gate to his farmyard. After being targeted, he managed to get back into his vehicle and drove approximately 200 meters, crashing through a fence before the vehicle came to a stop.A farm worker discovered him inside his vehicle at around 7:00 PM that evening. The worker immediately alerted the victim's brother and father, who lived on a neighboring farm. Emergency services rushed to the scene, where he was pronounced dead. The precise way of death was a fatal gunshot wound from a shotgun, with the projectile striking him in the left shoulder blade area. Nothing was stolen from his home or his vehicle during the incident.
