Weston Derrick Marcus

On the evening of Thursday, 5 December 2002, an armed group orchestrated a coordinated home invasion at the Driefontein farmhouse. During the ambush, the assailants confronted Weston, subduing him before executing him by shooting him directly in the head. The attackers ransacked the residence, stealing a household safe, multiple firearms, cash, and cellular equipment. They subsequently loaded the stolen goods into Weston’s white Toyota Hilux bakkie and fled the scene.Following a comprehensive multi-jurisdictional investigation by specialized rural safety and policing units, law enforcement tracked the vehicle and recovered the stolen goods, leading to the arrest of three primary suspects. The perpetrators were formally tried in the regional high court, where they were convicted of murder, housebreaking with the intent to rob, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. They received life imprisonment sentences for their operational roles in the killing.
