Carton-barber Devlin

The attack unfolded after Devlin Carton-Barber and his wife, Jo-anne, checked into the lodge alongside two American tourists whom they were hosting for a professional safari and game hunting tour. While at the lodge, Devlin went to the bathroom and heard a suspicious noise outside. When he went to investigate, he was confronted by an intruder who was holding Jo-anne at gunpoint and threatening to shoot her.Devlin was shot and killed when he moved forward to protect his wife from the armed assailant. He died from the gunshot wound directly in his wife's arms at the scene. The intruder then grabbed Jo-anne's handbag, which contained no money, and fled the premises. The tourists were in a separate room, did not witness the shooting, and cut their trip short immediately.
