Prinsloo Lida
3 March 2011 · Primrose holdings, Springs · Gauteng · Tortured
The story takes place on October 27, 2010, at the property of seventy-six-year-old Lida Prinsloo, located at Primrose holdings or Eastvale Street in Springs, Gauteng. On that specific day, an extraordinary and brutal series of events unfolded as Lida Prinsloo and her visiting sister, Rita Cloete, became targets of a highly aggressive armed gang during two separate attacks that occurred just eight hours apart at the exact same residence.
The orchestrated violence began during the first invasion when the attackers ambushed the sisters, shouting aggressively in Afrikaans that they would be shot. During the chaotic encounters, the armed gang displayed extreme hostility, severely assaulting the women while looting their cellphones, credit cards, and personal belongings. Rita Cloete was viciously beaten with a rifle butt, suffering broken wrists that later required extensive surgery, and the attackers even attempted to run her over with her own vehicle while shooting at arriving guests. Lida Prinsloo was subjected to severe trauma, terrifying threats, and physical violations as the gang completely ransacked her property and hijacked vehicles directly in front of her home. Though she survived the immediate terror of that double-hijacking ordeal, the profound physical and psychological torture took an irreversible toll. Lida Prinsloo passed away a few months later due to the severe trauma-related injuries and complications directly stemming from the brutal assaults suffered during the twin attacks.
