Ploughmann Elizabeth "Liz" (Prof)

a group of armed robbers infiltrated the farm Evergreen, located in the Agter Paarl region of the Western Cape. The criminals ambushed 51-year-old Dr. Liz Ploughman and another woman, Jana Badholdt, inside the residence. During the violent confrontation, the attackers brutally assaulted both women. Dr. Ploughman was murdered during the onslaught, while Badholdt sustained severe injuries and was left for dead by the perpetrators before they fled the scene.Because this double-attack occurred on the exact same day as the September 11 terrorist attacks in the United States, it received very limited international media coverage. Locally, however, the tragedy caused significant outrage. It took place amid a sudden wave of violent robberies in the Western Cape winelands, including another armed assault the very next day on the nearby farm Bergville.
