Hewitson Lulu Stephane

15 September 2008 · Westcliff smallholding, Hermanus · Western Cape · Stabbed
Lulu was the wife of Professor Rodney Hewitson, a member of the medical team associated with the world's first heart transplant. Her body was found in the foyer of their house at about 04:00, with a stab wound to her back. Police believed the attackers entered through a living-room window, which they removed, and escaped through the same window. Lulu had apparently pressed the panic button before she was killed. Her husband was in another part of the house and survived, although he was badly traumatised. The motive was believed to be housebreaking with the intention of stealing, although police said nothing valuable appeared to be missing. At the time of the News24 report, no arrests had been made and the murder weapon had not been recovered.
