De Bruyn Phillip “Flip”

28 September 1999 · Farm Middelplaas, Weenen · KwaZulu-Natal · Shot
The victim was targeted by assailants who arrived at the farm posing as potential customers inquiring about buying cattle. Once close to him, the perpetrators ambushed him, shot him dead, and robbed him of his 9mm pistol. Following a targeted investigation by the Greytown murder and robbery unit, five suspects were tracked down and arrested, including a 36-year-old male apprehended in Ladysmith. The broader police investigation extended into Gauteng, where law enforcement successfully recovered three R1 military rifles, a .303 rifle, a large quantity of live ammunition, a substantial amount of stolen cash, and the 9mm pistol believed to be the primary murder weapon.
