Du Plessis Daniel Jacobus "Danie"

Age 64. Danie du Plessis lived alone on the rural property while his fiancée resided in nearby Sasolburg. His son, Chester du Plessis, grew deeply concerned after multiple phone calls to both of his father's mobile devices went entirely unanswered throughout Sunday, October 11. On Monday morning, October 12, 2015, Chester drove to the smallholding to perform a welfare check. Upon entering the house, he discovered a horrific scene; his father’s body was lying in a large pool of blood inside the residence. A subsequent medical and forensic investigation revealed that Danie had been subjected to a severe and vicious assault with an unidentified blunt object before his attackers executed him by shooting him three times. The house was ransacked, and his mobile phones and other personal belongings were stolen by the perpetrators during the armed robbery.
