Entres Marlet

23 September 2018 · Kameeldrift smallholding, Pretoria · Gauteng · Shot
Age 61. Marlet was at home with her husband, Manie, their daughter and their grandchild when three armed robbers forced their way into the property at about 2:00 in the morning. The family was tied up with cellphone charging cables, and the couple’s two dogs were also shot and killed. During the attack, Marlet was shot in the chest and died at the scene. Her husband, Manie, was also shot and sustained an upper-body wound but survived the attack. The domestic worker was assaulted and tied up, before the assailants fled with stolen items. The attackers fled after the robbery, and Marlet’s murder remained unsolved. Marlet’s husband Manie later became known as a prominent member of the Kameeldrift community, serving as vice-chairperson of the Roodeplaat Fire Protection Association and as a leader in the Kameeldrift CPF. He died in February 2022, three years after the murder of his wife.
