Age 48. The multiple farm murder incident involving thirty-three-year-old George Makhunja occurred on Sunday, August 9, 1998, in the Melmoth region of the KwaZulu-Natal province in South Africa. He was killed alongside two other victims, identified in civil tracking logs as twenty-nine-year-old Goodenough Dlamini and forty-eight-year-old Shipo Mthembu, who was alternatively recorded as Sipho Mthembu. All three men were employed as game guards or wildlife rangers on a property formally designated as the farm Kortbegrip, located within the Melmoth conservation area. During the violent criminal intrusion, armed perpetrators breached the property and shot the three men dead, inflicting fatal gunshot wounds that directly caused their deaths.
