Oosthuizen Lynette Marlene

Age 63. Lynette Oosthuizen lived alone on the property and opened her door to the perpetrators, apparently because she recognized one of them as a former security guard who had previously worked on the farm. Two intruders entered the residence, robbed her, and strangled her to death. The perpetrators killed her to prevent her from identifying them to the authorities. Following the murder, they bundled her body into her bakkie and drove to a cliff in Bulwer, where they threw her body 200 meters over the edge.An informant from Imbali grew suspicious of a man and provided a tip-off to the South African Police Service (SAPS) on Friday morning. Police arrested three suspects in connection with the crime. Lynette Oosthuizen's body was recovered by search teams from the bottom of the Bulwer cliff on Saturday, August 25, 2007.The legal proceedings moved rapidly, with the trial concluding the same week of the crime. In the Pietermaritzburg High Court, two individuals were convicted of the murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances. On August 29, 2007, the judges handed down sentences, and the stranglers were jailed for life for the murder, alongside an additional 15 years imprisonment for the robbery.
