✝
Anandlal Rakhesh
3 September 2010 · Farm Thornridge, Cramond · KwaZulu-Natal · Shot
Age 51. He lived alone on the farm where he raised livestock. The crime followed a series of targeted threats and stock theft. On the night of July 10, 2010, the victim's brother received an anonymous telephonic death threat from a landline explicitly warning that they would be murdered. Weeks later, on Friday night, September 3, 2010, intruders attempted to raid the property, but the victim, with the assistance of two employees, successfully managed to herd his sheep back into the safety pens while the stock thieves slipped away into the darkness. Later that same night, the perpetrators returned to launch a violent assault on the homestead. Rakhesh Anandlal was ambushed and slain by the perpetrators. Anandlal was shot in the head, allegedly with his own gun, hacked on the neck and body, and allegedly also kicked in the face by his attacker, who was later arrested.
