Govender Krishna Soobramoney Dhavlin

Age 50. a gang of armed robbers targeted the property. They initially attempted to break into a neighbor's property, but after that failed, they forced entry into the Govender home by smashing a kitchen window and opening the backdoor. The armed intruders woke up Govender's eldest son at gunpoint and marched him to the parents' bedroom. Govender had bolted the bedroom door to protect his family, but the attackers smashed the door down. His 16-year-old son bravely fought off the attackers in an attempt to protect his father, and his wife managed to escape the room. During the violent confrontation, the intruders shot Govender. The media reported that the perpetrators executed the attack and killed him for a meager amount of three hundred rands. Govender died from gunshot wounds sustained during the shooting.Law enforcement agencies launched a joint investigation involving the Camperdown Police, the Pietermaritzburg K9 Dog Unit, and Magma Investigations. Following these collaborative efforts, five suspects were arrested in October 2015.
