Cordier Dina

27 August 2000 · Farm Ebenaezer, Wesselsbron · Free State · Stabbed
On the evening of 26 August, the couple returned to their farm and were ambushed near the house by Zolile William Gingela (also reported as Jingela) and Daniel Tlalinyane Motoai. Marthinus was severely assaulted and stabbed 12 times, while Dina was stabbed 24 times. Both died shortly afterwards. The attackers concealed their bodies under a canvas sheet in a shed, then entered the house and stole cash, a knife and a revolver from the safe before leaving in the Cordiers' bakkie. The abandoned bakkie led police to the farm and ultimately to the two suspects, who were arrested two days later. The two men were subsequently convicted in the Free State High Court in December 2001. Each received two life sentences for the murders, plus 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances, with additional lesser sentences for firearm and ammunition offences.
