Giddy Charlotte

Age 55. Bernardus Johannes "Bernie" van Zyl, aged 84, died at the scene after being severely beaten to death. The perpetrators used makeshift weapons found in the house, including a pair of crutches, to inflict fatal trauma. Charlotte Giddy, aged 55, survived the initial onslaught but sustained critical head injuries and severe facial swelling. Before losing consciousness, she managed to speak with emergency responders and police officials, explicitly identifying the primary attacker as an individual known to her. She was transported to Ermelo Hospital in a critical condition, where she succumbed to her injuries three days later on Tuesday, January 19, 2016.The attackers ransacked the home and fled into the surrounding area immediately following the assault. The investigation led local police to identify suspects based on the direct testimony provided by the female victim before her death, and judicial actions moved forward under Mpumalanga regional court structures.
