The original home invasion and robbery took place in the early morning hours of August 11, 2013, at approximately 03:00, when an unknown perpetrator breached the residence he shared with his 84-year-old wife, Ruth. After surviving the initial physical trauma of the beating, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
