Van Staden Jacobus Frederick "Koos"

Age 60. . The vegetable farmer and his wife, Heleen van Staden, were woken up in the middle of the night by their home security alarm. As intruders attempted to smash their way into the house, Koos van Staden rushed to block the bedroom door to shield his wife and yelled for her to grab his firearm. The attackers fired directly through the bedroom door, striking Van Staden. He was rushed to a local hospital but was tragically declared dead upon arrival, while his wife escaped physical injury. Investigators discovered that the attackers had poisoned one of the couple's dogs before the assault, and they fled the scene without stealing anything from the residence.Following an intensive police manhunt in the North West province, Public Safety MEC Howard Yawa announced in an official government release on Politicsweb that two suspects, identified as John Mapea and Robert Kgapole, were successfully arrested and criminally charged for the Kleinfontein murder in April 2010.
