Cooks Victor "Vic"

Age 75.a group of criminals ambushed Victor Cooks outside the couple's home. They forced him inside the residence and confronted his 74-year-old wife, Gwen Cooks, demanding money and firearms. The couple was subjected to a severe physical assault and sustained grievous injuries during the ordeal. The couple was allegedly stripped naked and burned with hot cooking oil and boiling water. Melted plastic was also poured over their bodies. While his wife survived the attack without life-threatening injuries, Victor Cooks succumbed to the medical trauma and severe complications in the hospital.Law enforcement officials registered a case of murder following his death. Local police subsequently tracked down and arrested two suspects. The individuals were identified as 32-year-old Abongile Hala and 26-year-old Macreush Matlou. They made a brief legal appearance in the Potchefstroom Magistrate's Court on October 16, 2017, where the case was postponed to November 3, 2017, to allow the police to search for a third outstanding suspect who remained at large. Both Hala and Matlou were officially remanded in custody.
