Age 62. David Arthur Acton was ambushed on his property by armed intruders. During the violent invasion, he was shot in the heart and died on the scene. His son was also shot twice during the attack but managed to survive the injuries. The tragedy significantly impacted the family, leading them to sell the property. The incident later gained national political attention when the victim's other son, Jeremy Acton (who went on to found the Dagga Party of South Africa), spoke publicly to the Mail & Guardian about how his father's murder destroyed their family's dream of running an orchid and vegetable farm.
