Around 6:00 PM on the evening of the attack, a neighboring farmer was alerted by his workers attending a local soccer match about two kilometers away from Pinevale. A suspicious, bloodied man carrying a weapon had emerged from the veld and stumbled directly into the sports match. The farmworkers took decisive action, apprehending the bloodied suspect on the spot and immediately calling the South African Police Service. Following tactical interrogations and coordinated tracking by regional police units, a second accomplice was tracked down and arrested later that night at approximately 10:00 PM, while a third suspect was cornered and arrested the following Sunday morning at roughly 3:00 AM.
