Olivier Elizabeth "Bets"

Age 63. The attack was a violent ambush carried out at the homestead, allegedly orchestrated by the couple's own farm laborers whom they had employed and trusted. The perpetrators first targeted her 67-year-old husband, Andrew Olivier, brutally assaulting him with a spade, inflicting deep wounds to his wrists and ankles, and leaving him tightly bound to a bush in the cold veld about two kilometers away from the house. The attackers then focused on Bets inside the residence, where she was fatally assaulted and killed. Her husband managed to survive the freezing night in the veld, untied his bonds the following morning, and was discovered by a neighbor who came to investigate. Her body was discovered inside the house by the same neighbor on Tuesday morning, August 16, 2022. The primary motive was determined to be robbery, as the attackers fled with three cellular phones and an undisclosed amount of cash.
