Swart Gideon

Age 52. Gideon Swart lived alone on a section of the property, which belonged to his brother, Ruben Swart, who farmed on a neighboring property just a few kilometers away. Ruben Swart grew increasingly worried after repeatedly attempting to call his brother starting on Thursday, September 22, 2022, but receiving no answer. On the morning of Friday, September 23, 2022, Ruben drove over to the property to investigate and arrived to find the front door of the main farmhouse standing wide open. He subsequently discovered Gideon’s body outside the house and immediately contacted the local police and emergency medical response teams. The investigation revealed that the farm had been breached by unknown attackers, who ransacked the residence and fled the scene using Gideon’s white Nissan 1400 bakkie. Gideon Swart died from severe, localized trauma following a brutal physical assault. When his body was recovered by his family and law enforcement authorities, his ankles and legs were bound together tightly with a leather belt. He had been severely beaten across his upper body and sustained multiple deep stab wounds inflicted with sharp objects into his abdomen and back.
