Mokheti Njabulo

Age 11. Njabulo Mokheti, an eleven-year-old child, was shot and killed during a ruthless evening raid on 21 April 2024 at a cherry farm stead in the Ficksburg District of the Free State province. The horrific assault transpired at approximately 9:50 PM when two unidentified, heavily armed men suddenly arrived at the farmstead. Without uttering a single word to any of the occupants inside, the attackers immediately opened fire indiscriminately at two separate houses where the farm dwellers resided. Young Njabulo Mokheti was struck by the gunfire and died instantly on the scene before any medical help could arrive.The shooting also severely injured six other farm dwellers, including men and women, who were rushed to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. Among the hospitalized victims, a nineteen-year-old woman tragically succumbed to her gunshot wounds the following evening, raising the death toll of the attack to two. Following the indiscriminate shooting, the two gunmen fled the farmstead on foot and escaped in an unidentified getaway car that had been waiting parked along the side of the nearby R26 road.
