Age 78. he murder occurred on Thursday morning, 30 April 2025, at approximately 08:45. The elderly farmer lived alone on the property. The attackers ambushed him while he was outside in his yard. He was found restrained inside his home after the attackers fled the scene.An intensive investigation by the Roossenekal Detectives and local Rural Safety members led to the quick arrest of a suspect after the stolen vehicle was involved in a crash near Burgersfort. On 11 May 2026, the Polokwane High Court convicted and sentenced 26-year-old Bobo Mokoena Mathibe to an effective 19 years of direct imprisonment for murder and aggravated robbery. A second suspect initially detained was released after investigations could not link him to the commission of the crime.
