Du Toit Deon Christiaan

Age 65. At approximately 01:30 in the morning, a gang of six men breached his residence to commit a robbery. Du Toit managed to activate his private panic button before a physical scuffle ensued. First responders from Smhart Security arrived on the scene while he was still conscious, and Du Toit managed to inform them that he had been pounced on by six men before he succumbed to his injuries. He died from a catastrophic stab wound, with the weapon still protruding from his upper body when emergency services and police arrived.The South African Police Service and provincial tracking teams launched an immediate investigation and arrested five male suspects aged between 22 and 37 over the following weekend. Law enforcement officials found the suspects in possession of various items identified as stolen from the property during the fatal house robbery. All five suspects were formally processed and appeared in the Humansdorp Magistrate's Court on Monday, 2 February 2026, to face formal charges of murder, house robbery, and possession of suspected stolen property.
