O'Dell Marinda
29 July 2010 · Smallholding Krugersdorp · Gauteng · Strangled
the incident occurred after her daughter, Alicia, arrived home in the afternoon and was overpowered, assaulted, and choked into unconsciousness in her bedroom by invaders. Marinda O'Dell returned to the property shortly afterward having dropped off children, and she was checking on her daughter's whereabouts when she was ambushed and murdered. She was choked to death, and her body was subsequently discovered by police in the main bedroom. Promptly following the attack, law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and apprehended one suspect, Cederick Lebia, who was caught hiding inside the roof of the house. A second perpetrator, Standley Mabulani, was tracked down and arrested a few hours later in the nearby township of Munsieville. Both men were formally charged with house robbery and murder, and during their subsequent trial in the Krugersdorp Magistrate's Court, they were both found guilty and sentenced to sixty years of imprisonment each.
