Olivier Pieter Schalk Rosouw

During the violent farm invasion, a group of attackers caught him entirely by surprise and ambushed him. Pieter Schalk Rosouw Olivier was struck from behind with an iron pipe and subsequently shot directly in the stomach. The perpetrators then proceeded to execute him with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. His 46-year-old wife, Martina Olivier, who was known to her family and community as Martie, was violently attacked by the perpetrators with a panga machete. The armed men dragged her through the property, held the machete blade directly against her neck, and explicitly threatened to end her life while they ransacked the home. Despite sustaining multiple severe bruises and injuries from the panga assault, Martina Olivier managed to survive the harrowing ordeal. Following the initial attack, the perpetrators took the body of Pieter Schalk Rosouw Olivier and dumped his remains into a nearby stream located on the farm property. Martina Olivier managed to escape the house once the attackers fled and ran to find help. A neighbor came onto the property shortly afterward and discovered the body of the deceased farmer in the stream, while emergency personnel arrived to transport his wife to the hospital for medical treatment and severe shock.
