Moolman Danie

A heavily armed gang of approximately five attackers launched a violent home invasion on his property. Located in the rural Leeupoort area along the border of Fochville and Carletonville, the farm sits directly adjacent to the Mpahla Village informal settlement, an area that had already been experiencing a heightened spike in local crime. Around nine o'clock in the evening, the suspects breached the perimeter of the farmhouse and immediately opened fire upon entering the residence. Both Danie Moolman and his son were shot and critically wounded during the initial moments of the confrontation. While the two men lay incapacitated by their gunshot wounds, the attackers turned their aggression toward Moolman's wife and daughter, physically assaulting them to force compliance as they ransacked the home in search of firearms, cash, and other valuables.After gathering their loot, the perpetrators packed the stolen property into the Moolman family's own vehicle and fled the scene. The attack immediately triggered a rapid response from neighboring farmers and regional community safety networks who mobilized to hunt for the suspects. Later that same evening, the community tracking teams successfully located and recovered the abandoned family vehicle. Although some of the stolen items were found left behind inside the car, the suspects managed to escape on foot into the surrounding area before they could be apprehended. First responders stabilized the severely injured Danie Moolman at the farmhouse before rushing him to Leratong Hospital in Krugersdorp. He underwent continuous medical treatment and spent over five weeks fighting for his life, but his internal injuries ultimately proved too severe. Danie Moolman passed away in the hospital on the first of May, twenty-six, converting the initial case of attempted murder into a formal murder investigation that further fueled deep community outrage regarding the lack of a sufficient rural police presence in the area.
