Venter Frans

Frans Venter, 68, was murdered on 21 September 2022 at his farm, Modderfontein, near Rustenburg in North West. He was at home with his gardener and domestic worker when four men entered the property. The attackers overpowered the gardener and tied him up with an electrical cable, and the domestic worker was also overpowered and restrained. The men then entered the house and attacked Frans. He was severely assaulted and stabbed to death. The attackers stole various items before fleeing on foot. One of the workers managed to escape and alerted a neighbour, after which neighbouring farmers, private security and police began searching for the attackers. Two suspects were arrested that same day and were found with cellular phones, a bag containing items taken from the farm, and imitation firearms. They appeared in the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court on 23 September 2022 facing murder and house-robbery charges and were remanded in custody, with the case postponed to 26 September. Two other suspects remained at large at that stage.
