Grobler Louwtjie

Age 73. Louwtjie Grobler, a 73-year-old elderly man, was attacked on Wednesday, May 27, 2025, and subsequently passed away from his injuries on Monday, June 2, 2025. The attack occurred on a farm property located in the Roodekoppies area, just outside Brits in the North West province.At approximately 01:00 AM, a gang of four armed men forced their way into the main farmhouse by breaking through a kitchen window while Grobler and a female friend were asleep inside. The perpetrators blindsided the victims, overpowered them, and bound them tightly. According to statement accounts from his son, Gerhard Grobler, the armed robbers brutally assaulted his father using a firearm, inflicting severe blunt-force trauma injuries directly to his head and hand. The assailants proceeded to ransack and plunder the entire household before fleeing the crime scene. They stole Grobler's personal firearm, multiple cellphones, the gate motor, and various household belongings. Following the departure of the attackers, Grobler and his companion spent roughly eight hours physically struggling to free themselves from their bonds. The female friend finally managed to untie herself, break loose, and run to a neighboring property to raise the alarm and request urgent emergency assistance.Members of the local AfriForum Buurtwag in Brits, private security personnel, and emergency medical services arrived at the scene alongside the South African Police Service. Grobler was hospitalized due to the extent of his severe head trauma, but he tragically succumbed to his injuries a few days later.
